Not those “French dogs” again – Briards putting our chews to the test
Petmex chews won over the four-legged participants of the 10th Briard Meeting, organised on Saturday, 30 April 2022, by Briardplanet.com.
For over a dozen years, enthusiasts of the Briard – French Sheepdog breed have been organising meetings like this one all over Poland. In this edition, the dogs had the chance to try their paw at sheep herding under the watchful eye of Chilabo Dogs.
Herding is, for herding dogs and their owners alike, a sport, a hobby, a way to fulfil the breed’s natural instincts, and sometimes even everyday work. It involves moving a flock, for example from pasture to pen, and controlling the behaviour of sheep (or other animals) with a dog assisted by its handler. Herding draws on elements of the modified hunting sequence, allowing herding dogs to act out their natural instincts.
Many dog breeds, including Briards, have a natural talent for working with livestock, though the best results come from regular training under the guidance of specialists.
After a successful training session, all the dogs got to enjoy Petmex’s aromatic dried rumen, and each of them received a pack of our natural chews to try out!
