Shelters – a safe corner for those most in need

Shelters are usually one of the first places that come to mind when we think of homeless animals, and stray dogs in particular. Staff and volunteers at shelters do a fantastic amount of hard work every day, so that the animals in their care can quickly forget the hardships of life on the street, the empty stomachs, and their sad past, and go to their new homes with happily wagging tails.

It always makes us very happy when we have the chance to sweeten the wait for a dream home for these homeless animals, by donating Petmex treats for shelters to use.

Foundations and associations – an initiative of people with big hearts

Foundations and associations differ significantly from shelters: they are usually much smaller, are set up on the initiative of private individuals, and almost never have premises intended for housing animals. So how do they operate?

Their work is based on volunteers, who provide shelter to animals in need in their own homes free of charge, thereby taking on the entirety of their care – from daily feeding, through grooming and cleaning up after them, administering medication, and finally working on proper socialisation and overcoming fears the pet has often experienced in life. We appreciate the enormous amount of work that volunteers do every day, which is why we always try to support such initiatives, especially the small, local ones.

One such foundation is Fundacja Na Psim Ogonie (“On the Dog’s Tail” Foundation), which operates in and around Mszana Dolna, and which we provide with regular financial support, but we’re also happy to get involved in events it plans. One such occasion was the Christmas Bazaar organised on 11 December 2022, all proceeds from which went towards the treatment and upkeep of the foundation’s animals. For this cause, we had the honour of donating a whole box of delicious, healthy Petmex chews.

In the grip of illness – supporting those fighting for their friends’ health

It’s obvious that we take care of our pets as well as we can: their proper nutrition, behavioural comfort, and their health. However, we’re not always able to protect them from everything, especially when an insidious illness strikes out of nowhere. That’s what happened with Lusia and Riko, who are fighting lymphoma.

We’re well aware that treatment bills for some illnesses, which are in no way caused by neglect, can reach astronomical amounts. To be able to continue their treatment, the owners of Lusia and Riko decided to open their own online bazaars, where interesting items can be bought in exchange for a donation, and we contributed our own share in the form of two boxes full of Petmex treats to be auctioned off for Lusia and for Riko.
